Limited Drop: The "Silicon Valley Obsession" Collection
When the New York Times called the Technology Brothers Podcast Network a "Silicon Valley obsession," John Coogan and Jordi Hays had one reaction: make it a t-shirt. Not because they needed validation from a legacy newspaper, but because the phrase perfectly captures what TBPN is and what its community represents—an unapologetic obsession with building, technology, and the culture that surrounds it.
The "Silicon Valley Obsession" collection is our most ambitious limited drop yet. It is high-contrast, bold, and designed to stand out. This is not the understated, tone-on-tone branding of our standard line. This is streetwear with a point of view.
The Design Language
The collection takes its visual cues from three sources:
- Newspaper typography — Large, bold serif headlines reminiscent of the front page of the paper that coined the phrase. The "OBSESSION" wordmark uses a condensed serif that looks like it was ripped from a broadsheet.
- Tech culture iconography — Circuit board traces, terminal cursors, and code syntax brackets woven into the graphic elements
- Streetwear energy — Oversized graphics, unexpected color blocking, and limited availability that creates urgency
Every piece in the collection carries the same core message: being obsessed with technology is not something to apologize for. It is something to wear proudly.
The Pieces
The "Obsession" Oversized Tee
The "Obsession" tee is the flagship. It features the word "OBSESSION" in a 72-point serif font across the chest, with "SILICON VALLEY" in a smaller type above and the TBPN crest below. The back has a vertical text treatment reading "TECHNOLOGY BROTHERS PODCAST NETWORK" in a monospaced font, running from the collar to the hem.
The fit is intentionally oversized—a nod to streetwear proportions that also happens to be incredibly comfortable for long days at a desk. Available in Black, White, and a limited-run "Newsprint Gray" that mimics the color of actual newspaper stock.
The "Front Page" Hoodie
The "Front Page" hoodie takes the newspaper motif further. The entire front panel is printed with a mock newspaper front page featuring TBPN-related headlines: "LOCAL PODCAST BECOMES GLOBAL PHENOMENON," "BUILDERS DECLARE INDEPENDENCE FROM LEGACY MEDIA," and "OBSESSION LEVELS AT ALL-TIME HIGH." The TBPN crest replaces the newspaper masthead.
It is loud. It is fun. It is not for everyone. And that is exactly the point. This hoodie is for the listeners who are not just casually tuning in—they are deeply embedded in the community and want the world to know.
The "Breaking News" Cap
The "Breaking News" cap features a ticker-style text treatment along the brim that reads "BREAKING: STILL OBSESSED." The crown has the TBPN crest in a contrasting color. It is a structured six-panel cap with a snapback closure, and it is designed to be the conversation piece in any room.
The "Edition" Accessories
Rounding out the collection:
- "Extra Extra" Sticker Pack — Newspaper-themed stickers with headlines from the show
- "Front Page" Poster — A museum-quality print of the mock newspaper front page, suitable for framing
- "Press Run" Tumbler — A stainless steel tumbler with the "Obsession" wordmark etched into the surface
Limited Means Limited
We are producing exactly 750 of each garment and 1,000 of each accessory. There will be no restock, no second run, and no "back by popular demand" encore. When the collection is gone, it enters the archive. This scarcity is not artificial—it reflects the nature of the moment. The "Silicon Valley obsession" quote will be relevant for a specific window of time, and the collection should exist within that window.
Each item includes a numbered hang tag and a small booklet with the story behind the collection, including the original quote, the reaction on the show, and the design process.
Wear the Narrative
The beauty of this collection is that it takes something that was meant as commentary and turns it into community identity. When you wear the "Obsession" tee or the "Front Page" hoodie, you are participating in a conversation about what it means to be deeply invested in technology and the culture around it.
TBPN listeners are obsessed—with building, with learning, with the conversations that happen on the show every weekday from 11 AM to 2 PM PT. This collection celebrates that obsession. And if the New York Times wants to write about it again, they are welcome to. We will make that a t-shirt too.
The "Silicon Valley Obsession" collection drops this Saturday at noon PT exclusively at the TBPN Store. Set your alarms. Follow the show on YouTube, X, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts for the official countdown. This one is going fast.
